Hidden as a child during the holocaust in France, Ruth Kapp Hartz will speak of hope and the courage of the people who saved her.
Ruth was four years old when she and her Jewish family went into hiding in a French village during World War II. Before the end of the war, she was separated from her family and sent to a Catholic convent under the pseudonym Renée Caper.
"We have an obligation to pass onto future generations two legacies: one on the horrors of the Holocaust and their perpetrators, and the second on the goodness of the Righteous Gentiles, ordinary people who, for reasons they still find hard to explain, were transformed into rescuers." - Ruth Kapp Hartz
Three Blessings and a Potluck is one of Beth Jacob Synagogue's Friday night traditions: we say blessings over candles, wine, and hallah and then share a potluck dinner. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. Ruth will be joining us for dinner.
Children over 10 years of age encouraged and welcome to attend!
