On Sunday, April 8th, we are celebrating decisions to follow Christ! If you have made a decision to follow Jesus, whether recent or a long time ago, and have not been baptized, this is your opportunity.

Baptism is an act of obedience to the command that Jesus gave the disciples, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19 ESV). Baptism also follows the example of Jesus, prior to His ministry on earth (Matthew 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22).

Baptism is not a means by which we are saved (Salvation is through faith in Jesus alone), rather a public declaration of the decision we have made to follow Jesus. It symbolizes our old self dying (submersion into the water) and our new self rising in Jesus (Coming out of the water). In simpler form, Baptism is declaring that we have left our old ways of life behind and now Jesus is the ultimate authority in our life.

If you, or someone you know is ready for baptism, you may sign up by clicking on the "Find Tickets" link above, or you can call the Bethel Church office Monday-Thursday, 9am-4pm to get your name put on the list.
