The High Road Home is the brainchild of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist David Allen Willis. Having played for nearly 20 years in a number of progressive bluegrass bands along the Colorado Front Range (the most recent being Mayhem Gulch), he found himself writing more and more songs that leaned towards the Nashville sound. Songs that just weren’t working in a traditional bluegrass band lineup. The quantity of songs started adding up. To the point where he knew he had to do something with them and not just leave them to die.
After reaching out to the thriving bluegrass community in Colorado and experimenting with a couple different instrumentation lineups, Dave found the right group of folks to give life to the music. And, a different lineup than you typically see in the bluegrass configurations he was so used to. The High Road Home is made up of David Allen Willis on guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin and lead vocals, Patrick Hardy on lead acoustic guitar and vocals, Rebecca Jonas on cello, and Jens Davis on vocals and upright bass.
Together they form The High Road Home, whose aim is to bring you something new in the acoustic music world that you’re not used to hearing. Something from the heart, something from the soul, and something we hope you like.
