The Fall 2018 shoot!
19-20-21 October 2018 (Fri-Sat-Sun)
Large recreational machine gun shoot that allows general public spectators. Camping nearly required, food water restrooms on site. Largest machine-gun shoot in the U.S.
The event is in a remote, rural area of Northwestern Arizona, in the United States, along U.S. 93. The East dirt turn off road is approx 11 miles north (north of mile marker 111) of the town of Wikieup or 19 miles south (south of mile marker 110) of Interstate 40. The route from Hwy93 to the range will be marked with small arrow signs.
Highway 93 is a popular conduit for Phoenix and Las Vegas and has moderate traffic. You turn off 93 and head east on dirt roads for approximately 5 miles to the property. Highway 93 has sparse development and little to no services. The town of Wikieup is the closest and has micro groceries, ice, fuel, RV camp spots, but no hotels. Nearest lodging would be in Kingman, approximately 70 minutes away. It's for this reason, most choose to camp on site. Popular, are large family trailers and motorhomes. 20% choose tents and we did see one guy who slept in the trunk of his sedan. There are no power hookups, or piped water. A large water buffalo tank is available at the top of the shooting mesa and a well is on site. There is no RV dumping services. Most truck in their own water and use a generator. Phoenix and nearby Mesa as well as Las Vegas and Kingman offer rental RV's for the price of 4 days in a good hotel- credit cards required.
This event does not sell "tickets" like a concert or public sporting event. Instead there are three tiers of fees.
The first is for private shooters, who with their personal inventory of automatic weapons and destructive devices pay for a position on the firing line. $275. This tier requires advance payment to secure the line position. Shooter's are able to register approximately one month prior to the event via the Big Sandy website. You wait for registration to be open, download the registration form(s), for you and your party. Group them together if you want to shoot together. Pay your fees for the group. You may also pay at the site on the weekend of the event, but your position will be first come first served.
Second is the public spectator who wishes to watch the private shooters, rent from a pool of weapons from the rental booth, browse vendors, meet people. $30. This tier does not need to pre-pay or purchase advanced registration. All spectator's pay a fee at the registration booth at the base of firing line mesa. Spectators are also allowed to join the various matches and competitions held at the far east end of the fire line. Spectators so inclined, need to provide their own weapon systems for these events. Not every match requires a full auto/select fire weapon. The M1 Garand, pistol and bolt action rifle matches would be the best fit, but even the assault rifle match could be tried. A small fee ($25) is required to enter the matches for spectators. On site, introductory level training is also available for weapons and tactics. An additional fee is required, contact website for details.
The final tier is for vendors. A non shooting fee grants you access to sell approved, related products at our event. Contact the website for position and further information. $125
