A virtuoso of diversity and sensitivity, Joseph performs in concert halls worldwide and is known for his brilliant technique, deep musicianship and joyous style of performance.

Expect a thrilling mix of Middle Eastern, jazz, traditional sounds and contemporary innovations, including pieces from the new album The Bluebird, the Mystic and the Fool.

An innovative cultural collaborator, Joseph pushes the oud into uncharted waters, fusing the Arabic Maqam system with western jazz and improvisation. He sees the oud as much more than an ‘ethnic instrument’.

Joseph, 34, was born in Cairo, grew up in Sydney and currently lives in London. He performed at the BBC Proms in Dubai in 2017 and will present a solo recital at the 2018 BBC Proms in London. He premiered his Concerto for Oud and Orchestra with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2017 and in 2019 will present the concerto with Sydney Symphony and other Australian orchestras.
