Join Teranga Ranch Wildlife as we head to the Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) to learn about the California Condor. We’ll learn all about condors on the bus on the way there! Bitter Creek NWR is an important part of the recovery of the California condor because it serves as the main release site for the Southern California population. We’ll talk about their natural history, behavior, current status and even those mysterious tags!. When we get to Bitter Creek, we’ll hike around Condor territory and learn more about them. We’ll also tour a portion of the Carrizo Plain National Monument. We’ll learn about the geology of the San Andreas Fault and hopefully find some wildflowers there on the largest native grassland in California! We MIGHT also come across owl or coyote sign, mule deer, Tule elk, California quail, golden eagles and more! Your guides for this trip are Kristy Brauch and Dana Stangel. Kristy is a Citizen Scientist, a Master Gardener, and a Monarch Conservationist. Dana is a former Biology teacher and an Urban Wildlife Specialist.
