WHAT IS AFFIRM?
A FREE weekend of coping skills training for Black gay/bisexual males or transpersons who have sex with men in Toronto
WHAT IS AFFIRM’s PURPOSE?
- To understand relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors
- To understand the role of homo/bi/transphobia and minority stress on thoughts and feelings
- To learn strategies to decrease negative feelings and increase positive feelings
- The most important effects of this intervention will be a better understanding of the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors as well as learning ways to manage stress better by changing thoughts and actions
HOW MUCH TIME WILL AFFIRM TAKE?
AFFIRM is done in a retreat format, meaning the intervention involves a 2 –day educational retreat where you’ll learn effective strategies to cope with stress

WHAT DO I GET FOR COMING TO AFFIRM?
In addition to free BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER and SNACKS each day of the retreat, everyone who completes AFFIRM will receive a $100 and a premium self care kit, not to mention the wealth of knowledge, tools and techniques to apply to your everyday life.
