The Simpson Symphonic Band performs their spring concert, featuring concerto competition winner Katie Dean, plus selections by Dello Joio, Khachaturian, and more. The concert is free and open to the public. The full program includes:
*Mozart's Flute Concerto in g minor, 1st mvmt., featuring Concerto Winner Katie Dean
*Norman Dello Joio’s “Scenes from “The Louvre.” This suite is based on the music that he wrote for a television special in 1964. He received the Emmy for best television score for this composition.
*“Serenade for Winds”, an exciting and unique new work for band written by Carter Pann. This work blends smooth melodies and rhythmic complexity.
* Fucik’s Classic March, “The Florentiner”
* A selection of two Russian dances. Gliere’s “Russian Sailors Dance” and Khachaturian’s “Sabre Dance
