Very simply, a mandala is a circle of repeating patterns. Think “kaleidoscope.” Remember the kaleidoscope you enjoyed as a kid? How you ooh-ed and aah-ed as shapes and colors changed right before your eyes. There is something about a kaleidoscope or mandala that draws you in, mesmerizes you, enchants you. Why else would there be dozens of mandala coloring books on the market right now? They are relaxing and meditative, that’s why.
Coloring books are fine, but wouldn’t it be even more fun to create your own designs? Come learn to draw mandalas! This two-hour class will cover one main style of mandalas – a 6-pointed flower motif. If there is enough interest, we will go deeper in future classes. This intro lesson will be taught by Donna Bearden, a mandala artist who has been studying and playing with mandalas for the last 10 years. Come play with us! Class Fee $28. All supplies will be provided.
