The chakra model describes the totality of a human being: physical, mental, and spiritual, and how the life force, prana, circulates between two poles, one in the physical world, our body and the gross reality, and the other, the infinite potential of consciousness. The prana nurtures and sustains every aspect of our body and mind through these six energy centers arranged on an axis through the core of the body.
Yoga practice is the practical application of the chakra system to achieve good health, self-understanding, and spiritual wisdom.
What are the chakras, how do they affect us?
The study of the chakras is very intriguing and profound. Our inner world is divided – we have a “light” side and a “dark” side. It is only when we take this dual reality into consideration and also accept our weaknesses that we are able to work on it.
Understanding our physical body and the chakras, or vital energy centers, gives us self-knowledge at every level of our being and maybe a new perspective in reconsidering our yoga practice so as to lay our spiritual journey on a solid fundation.
How to achieve a stable foundation? What does it make you feel focused and balanced? How can we work with these chakras to support our personal growth?
We will explore how each chakra is connected with our physical, mental, and psychological functioning and our understanding of who we are. How they relate to the issues of autonomy, self control, power, and our sense of self, as well as to our abilities to love and empathize with others. Their influence on creativity, serenity, intuition, and inner wisdom.
Finding some quiet time and getting onto your mat is hard enough, but once you’re there, it may be an opportunity to unlearn some bad habits or to correct physical, energetic and emotional imbalances. To cope with the challanges in every day life we need grounding and centering, not only flexibility.
We will also learn asana, pranayama and meditation techniques to connect our nervous system to the earth, to expand the energy flow and to cultivate courage, enthusiasm and self-esteem. To work on “mistakes” and dis-illusionments with wisdom, and transform them into valuable experiences and opportunities for development.
Although these are beginner-friendly ateliers, even seasoned practitioners will benefit from having a simple overview and practice on hand for days when they need to center and ground themselves.
