The body and mind are designed to work harmoniously together. Yoga means union, a union of the body and mind. When our body is stiff and tight and experiencing problems, the mind will experience the same stiffness, tightness, problems such as depression, anxiety and noise. The same can be said if the mind is experiencing problem, the body experiences also. These are called Psychosomatic Disorders. If the body is open, juicy, flexible and strong, the mind will be open, flexible, juicy and strong.
In this workshop we will work on three therapeutic sequences.
Joint Freeing Series (Anti- Arthritis, Anti Rheumatoid)
In this sequence we will move through slowly and with awareness, moving through each of the major joints in the body, releasing tension, opening and allowing a free flow of energy within the body. It is a gentle practice that will allow a sense of freedom to overcome the body and mind. It is excellent for those with rheumatism, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart problems or other ailments where vigorous physical exercise is not advised. It helps to eliminate energy blockages in the joints and outer extremities of the physical body, and works on the pranic and mental bodies as well.
Digestive Series (Restore Function of Liver, Small and Large Intestine
The second sequence will work on strengthening the digestive system. This is great for toning the abdominal area as well as relieving constipation, indigestion, acidity, excessive wind, diabetes and disorders of the reproductive organs.
Energy Block Series (To Increase and Enhance Energy)
The last series, each posture is designed to break down neuro-muscular knots, especially in the pelvic region where energy tends to stagnate. The hips tend to store a great deal of blocked energy so working deeply to open the hips can also release these blockages, allowing for a free flow of energy and leave you feeling energised and rejuvenated. This is useful for those with stiff back, reduced vitality, suffering with menstrual problems and toning the pelvic region and organs. We will explore a variety of different ways to work on opening the hips whilst protecting the knees. Some of the postures will be active and dynamic ones and others will be more passive, longer-held hip openers, which can really help to release long-held tension and tightness in this area.
