National Peace Corps Association and the Missouri Peace Corps community will be honoring David Crozier (Colombia 1961-62) who, along with fellow PCV Larry Radley, died on April 22, 1962 while serving as Peace Corps Volunteers in Colombia. David and Larry were the first of over 300 individuals who have given their lives while serving their country in the Peace Corps.
A special commemorative ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 22, in Bolivar, Missouri, starting with a reception at 12:30 pm, followed by a program at 2:00 pm and an optional early dinner in the Bolivar/Springfield area afterward.
In addition to David's family and friends, RPCVs from around the region will be gathering to honor David's and Larry's service. Expected to be in attendance are the Missouri Congressional delegation, the Peace Corps director, and representatives of the Fallen Peace Corps Volunteer project. This is an opportunity to not only honor David Crozier and Larry Radley, but to also build awareness of the Peace Corps among our members of Congress and the general public.
NPCA affiliate groups Central Missouri RPCVs, Springfield RPCVs, St. Louis RPCVs, and Kansas City RPCVs are the local organizers.
