To honor National Donate Life Month please join us as we host two authors who are transplant recipients. Their objective is to increase awareness for the need for more donors, dispel myths surrounding donation and encourage more people to register. Connecticut is comparatively lower than almost any other state when it comes to the donor registry.
About Millie Visits the Lake:
Millie is a translucent butterfly whose wings magically change color to match her mood, or sometimes food. She enjoys adventures about friendships, challenges, and acts of kindness. Join Millie on her series of "visits" to fun places, and meet her special friends. Each story has a lesson that she holds dear to her heart. Millie also has a love for flowers, plants, and animals.
About the author:
Millie's stories are for families to share with heartfelt meaning, life lessons, and acts of kindness. Creating Millie has been a dream of mine since 2006 when I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease that would eventually required a liver transplant. I decided it was time to pursue this dream for my self and my daughters - Jamie & Megan. I wanted my stories to reflect kindness, compassion, courage and touch on the simple things in life. A family dear to me suffered a tragedy and I found myself overwhelmed with passion to make sure their daughter would always be remembered. I decided my Millie could be the perfect way to deliver this tribute, and touch on the importance of organ donation & Donate Life. During my own recovery from my liver transplant I was able to complete my first Millie "visit" and create a special dedication to the Molin family.
About Jane Andrews' books:
The Back Burner is a cook book. There are a few stories included and all of the recipes come from people affected by donation.
Because I Can is a collection of short stories from Donor Families and recipients.
