Join us at the bookstore for an evening of portrait-making that is fun for all ages! See the Kalamazoo portraits, make one of your own, and take one home with you.
Eye to Eye is a mobile art cart that travels Kalamazoo asking two people who don't know each other (strangers) to sit for and make each other's portraits. To make the portraits, participants use only a set of stamps. The stamps are simple lines and shapes, which makes this an activity that everyone can do! The heart of the project is in the interaction and connection between participants. Aimed at creating meaningful scenarios through a humorous and lighthearted approach, Eye to Eye celebrates Kalamazoo's diversity by creating an opportunity for strangers to build connections, even if only for a few minutes. The goal is to create a situation where two people can pause and take time to look each other in the eye and truly appreciate the features that make each of us unique.
The project is supported by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo and the Kirk Newman School of Arts's Residency Program. Learn more and see the gallery at www.facebook.com/EyetoEyeKzoo
