*Co-Sponsored with North Shore Village*
Join Lesley Williams and a group from North Shore Village at Bookends & Beginnings for a discussion of
Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America, by Michael Eric Dyson. Writing in the form of a church sermon, Dyson discusses various ways in which white people struggle to face the facts of racism in America, and proposes suggestions on how reconciliation and reparation can happen with respectful discourse.
We'll be discussing Dyson's view of race in America, the current racial situation in Evanston, and how Evanston in particular can move towards racial reconciliation. Lesley Williams, the discussion leader, was Head of Adult Services at Evanston Public Library for more than 20 years and regularly leads discussions and prepares facilitator guides for the Dear Evanston Racial Justice Book Group. You don't need to have read the book to attend the discussion, but you do need to register in advance by April 9 to firstname.lastname@example.org or North Shore Village at 224-234-2450.
