Bowery Poetry is pleased to present a special show - a project of one of our beloved interns: Evelyn Rivera-Cardenas!
Clowning Around, NYC Bound is a one woman semi-autobiographical theatrical clown show written, produced, and starring Evelyn Rivera-Cardenas. Directed by Sofia Gregory, this thirty minute piece of work follows Robin as she grows up in her home town of Miami Florida - Tiny, Latina, and a total weeb, growing up can be difficult when you feel like you don't fit in and no matter what role or character you try to be just doesn't quite fit either. You see Robin transition from Elementary school to high school, and from there to college, finally making it to the one place she wants to be most; all while simultaneously finding her voice.
CAUTION: This piece does contain show tunes, Disney, Salsa, obnoxiously peppy J-pop, angst, SVU, and puberty. So, if any of those things are particularly upsetting, breathe. It'll be over in thirty minutes!
Actual Trigger Warning: This piece does bring up the topic of self harm and a knife is pulled out on stage.
