You’re invited to the GoGeomatics Calgary April Social with Ron Robinson Speaker at Brewsters on 11th Avenue! This free, fun networking event will bring together students, industry professionals, managers, and more from across the Canadian geomatics community. Our group is pleased to announce that we will be hosting Ron Robinson, who will be doing a presentation for the occasion.
After graduating from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1974 Ron Robinson had to choose between pursuing an ALS before they changed to the university syllabus or go to St Lucia to work for CUSO… He passed up working in paradise and obtained his ALS in 1977. Ron was fortunate to work for a small company in Edmonton that performed a healthy cross section of surveys and projects including subdivision applications; subdivision surveys; road widenings; and oil and gas surveys through out Alberta. Ron made an attempt to become a BCLS moving to Victoria in 1991 but it was not enough action for him and he pined for the challenges of oil and gas projects in Alberta. In 1992 Ron joined Challenger Surveys and over the 35 plus years with Challenger was lucky enough to have worked on oil and gas projects in all 3 Western provinces and in addition shortly after obtaining his CLS in 1995 he was surveying well sites in Fort Laird and then in the 2000’s the Mackenzie Delta in the NWT. He has unique experience of seeing surveying industry to evolve from using transit, chain, plumb bob and Leroy set in 1974 to today's GPS, UAV, LiDAR, terrestrial scanners, GIS and CAD software.
We look forward to seeing you!
