Join Lauren Sanders to celebrate the release of her new novel The Book of Love and Hate - a deeply personal reckoning of family and history in the storied land of Israel, in conversation with playwright J.T. Rogers, whose Broadway sensation “Oslo” follows the back channel between Palestinians and Israelis that led to the historic peace agreement in 1993.

Set in modern Israel, a site of ongoing conflict that is often over-simplified in American media, Lauren Sanders’s new novel The Book of Love and Hate follows an American woman who sets out to track down her father. He’s taken cover there after committing multiple crimes, believing that as an American Jew, the land of Israel will shield him. The book is a deeply personal reckoning with family, history, and the demons that hold us down. J.T. Rogers, whose Broadway sensation “Oslo” follows the back channel between Palestinians and Israelis that led to the historic 1993 peace agreement, makes the scope of Israeli politics personal by focusing on the individuals working away from the skewed media. Rogers joins Sanders to celebrate the release of her novel in a conversation about art and politics, insiders and outsiders, friends and enemies, and ultimately how to tell a story about a place that’s been endlessly covered, condemned, and coveted.
