On our Annual Anzac Walk we tell the stories of a few of the many service persons interred at the Brighton General Cemetery. In June 2017 31 graves were demolished and rebuilt and on this walk we get to know 8 of those who now have a lovely new grave amongst them being Nurse Irene McPhail who faced hardships, danger and deprivation as she carried out her duties in the care of the many maimed, injured and dying soldiers. Sergeant David William Roberts who enlisted twice and George Hawke Northcote whose wife persevered to be allowed to go to England to care for her husband George who was badly injured. Today we pay homage.
