Backbends can be divisive: those with increased mobility find them joyously uplifting while, to others they seem impossible.

In this workshop you will find an approach to backbends that is both sustainable and joyously uplifting. You will come away with the tools to work safely, sustainably and joyously with backbends throughout your yoga practice.

The workshop will start by looking briefly at the anatomy involved in back bending. You will work with muscularly focused back bending such as salabasana (locust) and ustrasana (camel), and leveraged back bends such as dhanurasana (bow) and urdhva dhanurasana (wheel). If you enjoy an inversion we will also play with inverted backbends.

(Some yoga experience needed. Flow class taught as part of the workshop.)
