Many great writers have lived in Lambeth and now a new crop are gaining a reputation. Brixton Rising is pulling together three of those voices to discuss their work, how they got published and the reaction they’ve received.

Michael Donkor’s upcoming novel Hold has already caused a stir with publishers Fourth Estate winning the rights in a bidding war and heralding him ‘A powerful new British literary voice’. The Guardian identified him a one to watch for 2018. Sarah Perry (writing as S K Perry) was longlisted for London's Young Poet Laureate, was resident artist at the Roundhouse and a Cityread Young Writer in Residence 2014. Her new novel Let Me Be Like Water was called a ‘moving and powerful’ debut. Zelda Rhiando’s first novel was self-published and became an Amazon best-seller, her second novel Fukushima Dreams is published on Unbound and looks like being a passionate, hard hitting outing! She is the founder and impresario of the Brixton BookJam, and has been featured on Radio 4 and BBC London.
