Shakespeare's earliest plays deal with the most turbulent period in English history, from the loss of France through to the Battle of Bosworth. This illustrated talk shows how Shakespeare used history: what he retained, what he ignored and how he melded real events into drama. The speaker lectures regularly on Shakespeare, art history, literature and film and has published articles on poetry, detective fiction and social history.
