Bukit Kutu (1053 metre) is a mountain near Kuala Kubu Bharu along the trunk road to Fraser's Hill. It was once a colonial hill station called 'Treacher's Hill', until usurped by neighbouring Fraser's Hill in popularity. Bombed by the Japanese during the war, it was eventually abandoned to wild, until even the access road (by cart rail) was lost in thick vegetation.

Today, the only remains of the bungalows that once overlooked the lush valley are chimney, fireplace and well (that still collects water), and stone walls at the other end of the ridge. It is a popular climbing spot on weekends, with beautiful views of the Titiwangsa mountain range and Kuala Kubu Bharu dam at the summit. You get to expect bamboo forest, river crossing, and boulders obstacles.

On the second day, we will set off early to the famous Broga hill. The view from the top of Broga Hill offers one of the best sights from such a low hill. Lush valleys of green rainforest and a few towns can be seen vibrantly on a clear day, with the backdrop of several mountains in the far distance.

During the mornings, mist rising from the ground from the warmth of the sun envelop the landscape in a carpet of white, providing a surreal atmosphere. The hike itself is relatively easy, taking between 20-45 minutes to reach the highest peak depending on how fit you are. There are a few steep ascents, but nothing to hard to conquer.

After so much fun in our hikes, we will be rewarding ourselves with good food at Jonker’s Street which filled with. Be prepared to splash out on keepsakes, freshly baked traditional pastries, dried goods and delicious food as you spend your day there.

Come and join us for this fun and adventurous sunrise hikes and food hunt at Jonker St!
