Two-time Edison Award–winning and Grammy-nominated Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah grew up immersed in ritual Mardi Gras Indian traditions, and distinguished himself as a jazz trumpeter by his early teens. Now, he’s shaping his own artistic reality, creating what he calls Stretch Music—a proud hybrid of styles and approaches, with a strong underlay of groove. Heralded by JazzTimes magazine as “jazz’s young style God,” Adjuah stretches the conventions of jazz to encompass many musical forms, languages, thought processes, and cultures. The releases in 2017’s acclaimed The Centennial Trilogy crossed New Orleans and the Caribbean to the soundscapes and textures of Nordic Pop, Alt Rock, Japanese Traditional Music, Afro beat, and beyond.
