Join us for a special breakfast edition of our graduate student bagel hour with visiting speaker Valerie Traub! Graduate students from all departments are invited to stop by for coffee, bagels, and casual conversation from 9 – 11 am. Following bagel hour, Traub will be hosting a brown bag discussion of her essay “Sexuality” from 11:00 – 12:30 pm in CRT 939.

Valerie Traub is the Frederick G.L. Huetwell Professor of English and Women’s Studies at the University of Michigan, and will be giving the 7th Annual Literature and Cultural Theory Lecture at 2:00 on Friday in CRT 368. Her talk, “Normality: A Prehistory,” addresses how early European cartographers’ and anatomists’ strategies for representing human bodies through implicit taxonomies of gender, sexuality, race, and class contributed to the historical emergence of the concept of “the normal.”
