We journey on part of Route 500, as well as enjoying a particularly scenic day out along the wild Atlantic coastline. Concluding the holiday through the picturesque West Highlands staying near Loch Lomond/Stirling.
Morning departure from your local pickup point for a scenic drive to Inverurie.
This morning we head into the heart of Grampian. Entry is included into nearby 13th century Fyvie Castle, with stunning interiors and superb collection of arms, armour and paintings. Stroll around the picturesque loch. Hear about the ghosts, legends and folklore. On the way back we have free time in the Granite City of Aberdeen.
Departing Ardoe we travel north to Fochabers. We then continue to Inverness – The Highland Capital, with time free. Our onwards journey to Ullapool snakes along loch sides and moorlands - forming part of Route 500, one of the most scenic drives in the UK. We stop at Corrieshalloch Gorge, an accessible and spectacular waterfall, plunging 150 feet into the gorge. This evening we arrive in Ullapool where we are based for the next 2 nights.
A magnificent scenic drive awaits as we travel along the wild west Highland coastline. We make a short stop in Poolewe - a small village affording great sea views over golden beaches and green, rocky islands. In the afternoon we include entry into the most famous of Scotland’s gardens – Inverewe, warmed by the Gulf Stream it is able to sustain plants from many temperate regions of the world.
Today we make our way from Inverness to Fort William. The journey is quite simply breath-taking, with half the drive hugging the shoreline of Loch Ness. Approaching Fort William the mighty mass of Ben Nevis comes into view. We continue south through Glencoe and along the shores of Loch Lomond – “The Queen of Scottish Lochs” to the overnight hotel.
After a leisurely start to the day we make our return journey home with fond memories of our Highland adventure.
