The world is falling apart; we often say. Things are messed up, broken, unfair and unjust, and often evil. And so we cry out, God how long before you answer our cries for help?
But, God has given His people the responsibility to mend the world, to make it better. Jesus urges us to pray, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
but also promises, the Kingdom of God is among you. As Christians, we are given authority to advance God's kingdom. Our new series will focus on this responsibility.
We are called to mend the world - to advance the kingdom of God.
Our lessons in April and May will come from the book of Nehemiah. Nehemiah was a man long ago who saw a disaster but he did not surrender to despair or fatalism.
He prayed for God's wisdom and authority to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. But, this was only the beginning - a first step. Once the walls were built.
Once God's people were secure and free. God's people could grow spiritually and thrive. Today, the church suffers...the walls are burnt down.
Today, we are surrounded with a hostile culture but the real problem is within the church. We have a thousand plans and strategies but we don't have power from on high.
We ask God to honor our plans, our dreams of being bigger and better. And so Jesus stands outside the door knocking offering to restore us and give us wisdom for the future.
Like Nehemiah and his people, we will need to cry out in prayer, turn back in repentance, and humbly wait for His Vision to become clear.
