In this workshop we will learn to create a realistic portrait by studying the building blocks of the human face. Using simplification, we can discover the shapes and proportions that are universal to the human form and can help us depict portraits with greater ease and confidence.
We will work standing at easels to complete several facial studies, and will then approach a more rendered, final project. Several techniques will be practiced and internalized while we touch on basic drawing concepts, such as balance, contour, composition and proportion.
Creativity and experimentation will be encouraged!
This workshop is great for beginning artists, or artists who have ever struggled with depicting the human form.
