Please join us for the book launch of Bloody Roots/Arrels Sagnants by Noèlia Díaz Vicedo (Francis Boutle Publishers).

There will be readings in Catalan by Noèlia Díaz Vicedo and in English by Sarah Kelly, accompanied by flamenco guitarist Jorge Bravo.

Bloody Roots/Arrels Sagnants was written over a period of ten years from 2000 to 2010. The poems engage with the Western poetic tradition from a feminist perspective, exploring the challenges a woman faces when she writes poetry.

Noèlia Díaz Vicedo was born in Alicante. She is a poet and translator whose poetry and translations have been published in Spain, UK and the USA. She combines teaching with research on contemporary women's poetry and gender studies. She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster and a Fellow at the Centre for Contemporary Women's Writing at the Institute of Modern languages, London.

The poems are written in the Valencian variety of Catalan.
