To aid in the fight against vascular disease and to create awareness about heart disease prevention, Cardiovascular Institute of the South will offer FREE vascular ultrasound and electrocardiogram (EKG) screenings to the Baton Rouge community on Tuesday, April 24 from 5:30-7:30 PM at the CIS Baton Rouge clinic located at 8401 Picardy Ave.
Free vascular ultrasounds will be offered to test for venous disease. This condition develops when the vein valves become damaged or diseased. Venous disease can cause blood to pool in the legs, making varicose veins visible. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Interventional cardiologists, Dr. Amit Patel and Dr. Satish Gadi, will be available to answer questions and provide risk assessments. Additional patient education will also be provided for those interested in learning more about vascular disease and smoking cessation.
The event will also include hors d’oeuvres and red wine sampling. This is an opportunity for attendees to relax and unwind while monitoring their health at the same time.
Registration is REQUIRED.
