Information on our Annual Fly Tying Academy


The Carson Fly Fishing Club is offering a beginning Fly Tying Academy on April 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, and 25, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Airport Terminal Building – 2600 College Parkway, Carson City. The purpose of the class is to learn basic techniques of tying different flies, no experience necessary. The flies for this class will be Wooly Worm, Chamois Nymph, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Little Yellow Stone Fly, Adams and Zonker. This will be the 19th year that the Carson Fly Fishing Club has presented this class free to the public. Class size is limited.
The instructor for the class is Stan Zuber. Stan has been tying flies for over 30 years and is a member of the International Federation of Fly Fishers, Fly Tying Group. He learned to tie flies while being a member of the Aguabonita Flyfishers, Ridgecrest, CA.
