This year’s campaign is dedicated to two young leukemia survivors, 8-year-old Nicholas and 6-year-old Kendra, 2018 Boy and Girl of the Year. Emma Yepsen is running for 2018 Woman of the Year in memory of her childhood friend Taryn Fox who died from leukemia at the age of 9, and like many, witnessed firsthand the debilitating effects cancer can have on those who suffer and on the friends and family who care for their loved ones.
Invite your friends! The 'Crush Cancer' event is open to everyone, free to attend, and will be held in Cask's downstairs bar area and patio from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17. (Which yes, is Tax Day, so a great opportunity to give some refund money to a great cause :) Every dollar counts!
If you are unable to attend, please consider making a donation online instead: https://pages.mwoy.org/sun/sun18/emmayepsen
Everyone wins when cancer loses.
Funds raised are making a huge impact on blood cancers, but we still have a long way to go. Survival rates for some forms of childhood leukemia have risen from 28% in 1960 to nearly 90% today. However, incidences of lymphoma are on the rise, and leukemia still causes more deaths among children than any other cancer.
Thanks to your support, these efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives.
Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
All donations are GREATLY appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
THANK YOU for your support.
