The Film and Media Studies Speaker Series presents: “Rethinking Media Coverage: Vertical Mediation and the War on Terror, from 9/11 to Trump,” a lecture by Lisa Parks (MIT).

Lisa Parks is Professor of Comparative Media Studies at MIT, and was faculty and former chair of the Film and Media Studies Department at UC Santa Barbara from 1998-2016. She is the author of Cultures in Orbit: Satellites and the Televisual (Duke UP, 2005) and Coverage: Vertical Mediation and the War on Terror (forthcoming), and is co-editor of: Life in the Age of Drone Warfare (Duke UP, 2017), Signal Traffic: Critical Studies of Media Infrastructures (U of Illinois P, 2015), Down to Earth: Satellite Technologies, Industries and Cultures (Rutgers UP, 2012), Undead TV (Duke UP, 2007) and Planet TV: A Global Television Reader (NYU P, 2003).
