Businesses are doing more to address human rights, and countries are increasingly enacting laws that require companies to disclose their efforts on various social issues. Shubha Chandra ’13 will discuss why lawyers must take into account human rights when advising their companies and clients. As an associate at Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), she provides consulting services to companies on human rights and manages a cross-industry business group focused on eliminating human trafficking in global supply chains. Prior to BSR, she managed the human rights program at the United Nations Global Compact, the UN’s corporate sustainability initiative, where she also served as Counsel to the Chief Legal Officer.
