Rationale for the Exhibit:
This year the Center for Faith & the Arts is exploring the themes of Faith & Doubt. Broadly speaking, faith and doubt can encompass a number of situations in our lives. Doubt can sometimes be a powerful challenge to faith, but also faith can at times alleviate our doubts. We will kick off this theme with the gallery exhibit entitled, This is us. This will be the first in a series of gallery exhibits centered around the theme of faith & doubt. This exhibit will celebrate who we are as human beings, in our relationships with each other and in how we define ourselves.
CFA is launching this exhibit in collaboration with Salisbury Pride, and Rowan Cabarrus Community College as a part of the celebration of June as Pride month.
Open to all artists regardless of location, media, or experience level. We are looking for a diverse range of artists. Please note: costs associated with delivery and return of artwork to be paid by artists. No entry fee required.
Artists are required to deliver (or ship) their artwork to the exhibit location by Monday, June 4, 2018. Works must be retrieved by Friday, November 1, 2018.
All accepted artwork must be ready to hang or display, requiring nothing more than a pedestal or fishing line; no cleets or screws are allowed in walls. The top of the work must be clearly identified on the work itself or in the handling instructions. Artists must provide installation instructions for any work requiring special handling instructions or installation methods.
All artwork must be available for sale, however, under the right circumstances and approval from curators may there be an exception. All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibit. A 25% commission will be taken by Center for Faith and the Arts for artworks sold.

Art requirements:
All submitted works must express Faith and Doubt as a metaphor reflecting our own social, human relationships. Due to the contemporary nature of this call, only work created from 2015-present will be considered. Because of the historic nature of the building and specifications of the gallery space, the selection of works involving projections and other media requiring dedicated electricity may be limited.
Artworks accepted in preliminary judging by digital image do not constitute acceptance into Handcrafted. If upon delivery, an accepted artwork is found to have been misrepresented by the image sent or deemed unfit or unsafe for exhibition, it may be disqualified. Award winners will be selected by the juror after the exhibition is installed and announced at the Artist Reception.
