Join Shinzen Young for a day of Unified Mindfulness. We'll explore the theme of Spontaneity through three techniques:

Auto Move – Tune in to spontaneity as you walk, work, dance, etc.
Auto Speak – Speak or chant from a place of spontaneity
Do Nothing - Drop the intention to control your attention

The practice of expressing Primordial Perfection through one's speech and body movement is a characteristic feature of the Rinzai School of Zen.

The other main school of Zen, Soto, emphasizes "Just Sitting," which is closely related to the technique Shinzen calls Do Nothing.

Auto Move is the vitality that comes about when nature itself moves you. Auto Speak is the vitality that comes about when nature itself speaks through you. Do Nothing is the vitality that comes about when nature itself focuses you. It's a form of "Auto Concentration."

Snacks will be provided but you may wish to bring a lunch.

The event is held at the Monastic Academy's beautiful 123-acre Modern Monastery in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Dress for optional meditation in movement practice periods outside.
