Come on in and taste through Italian wines both regional and varietally based! We're dedicating this tasting to two days because we've got an amount of wine to cover. We'll be breaking up the tasting into two parts. The first will be shown on Wednesday evening, the second on Friday.
Italian wine can be confusing. Well, all wine can be complicated. We try to break it all down for you by hosting these sessions, and this week is no exception. Back to basics. We're going to tackle some familiar varietals and their regions throughout Italy, but with a bit of backstory for you. Personally, I find it easier to address more esoteric wines when I have a good base on the "standard." What's really "standard" in wine anyhow? Techniques change, fads come and go, farming practices are varied, not to mention uncontrollable variables like weather and global warming.
With all that said, come in this Wednesday and Friday to dig in on Soave Classico, Pinot Grigio delle Venezie, Rosso Veneto, Tuscan whites and reds, Primitivo del Salento, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and others.
