It’s Word Makers first birthday and we have an absolute treat in the form of a headliner to celebrate!
Abe Gibson is a London-born poet, storyteller and fulltime caretaker with Hackney Council. He was a member of the Brothaman Poetry Collective and has published a collection of poetry, Violently Tender. He has been writer in residence at Feltham Young Offenders Institution and at schools in Tottenham and Hackney. Performing at Word for Word, he was spotted by a representative from the London Museum of Transport, Covent Garden where he has been writer in residence. His welcoming style captures even the attention of those who think poetry is "not for me".
"I believe that poetry is a quiet music that everybody has and when shared it allows the truths in us to be heard that are all too often lost or abandoned. Poetry when heard or read could be a medicine.” - Abe Gibson
