First of all, THANK YOU for making our first four Homecoming Shows at the Charleston Music Hall such a success! Without you, there is no show, no band, no Blue Dogs! And because of you, we literally have had some of the greatest nights of our lives as musicians. It means so much to us to have a full house of friends, fans, and family, and then to have all these musicians and friends come out and spend the evening with us—it has been incredible.
When we planned our 25th anniversary show in 2013, we realized that we had found the ANNUAL EVENT we had been searching for our whole career. We have always wanted to host a musical happening in Charleston that would be an annual homecoming of sorts. One that would allow us to hang out with other musicians and our families and friends and make some kind of special noise together. You helped make that dream come true.
In an effort to solidify this event as an annual affair, and turn it into a charitable event, we partnered in 2014 with the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, which will be the beneficiary of our show going forward. We’ve also been fortunate to have a number of wonderful sponsors each year, and we are now currently seeking sponsorships that will include VIP packages. For information, contact Mimi Dorman with MUSC at firstname.lastname@example.org or 843-792-0350.
In 2016, we brought on a new partner, the Press On Fund based in Augusta, GA, which has been providing funds for pediatric cancer research for over 10 years. Since MUSC has the only pediatric oncology researcher in the state of South Carolina, Dr. Jacqueline Kraveka, Press On has agreed to match all funds raised by our event. Thanks to Press On’s involvement, total money raised at our event in 2016 was over $130,000!
SO: our 5th Annual HOMECOMING Show this year will take place at the Charleston Music Hall on Friday, December 29, 2017. We will only be performing ONE NIGHT, so make sure to get your tickets early! We are working on plans for this year which we will share with you very soon, but rest assured you’ll get plenty of Blue Dogs and, of course, our special guests and as many special moments as we can bring onto the stage this year. We will have 250 VIP tickets available this year—they include free admission to the Super Goo Jam at The Music Farm on Thursday December 28, VIP Reception the night of the performance, a commemorative show poster, & two drink tickets for the Music Hall.
Over the past three years some of our closest musical friends, including Edwin McCain, Darius Rucker, Hootie and the Blowfish, Radney Foster, Drivin n Cryin, Doug Jones, Danielle Howle, Pat McGee, Jupiter Coyote, Shawn Camp, Cary Hudson, Wallace Mullinax, Sadler Vaden and a host of other talented musicians have joined us on stage, so watch out for announcements about special guests that will join us for our fifth annual homecoming event.
We’ll do it all again this December. We look forward to sharing another special time with you and your friends and families!
Have a great rest of the summer, and we’ll see you soon.
