C'mon down to Check Inn 99 on Sukhumvit Soi 33 on April 26th and have a listen to Bangkok's premier Alt-Country/Americana artists!
MATTHEW FISCHER & THE FISHES
Matthew has been a mainstay on the scene here for six years and his CD on Panda Records released here last year was their top seller.
Straight-ahead Americana rock mixed with 2 parts Crazy Horse, 2 parts Dylan, a shot of whiskey and a raw onion. A crazy twister scooped up Matt Fischer from his Wisconsin farm and set him down in Bangkok
VALERIE JOYCE & THE RISING SONS
Valerie Joyce and the Rising Sons is a band fronted by California singer-songwriter (Valerie Joyce) whose influences range in the sphere of Americana country, folk music and art rock. Her songs touch on themes of isolation, as well as the illusory and captivating sensations of love.
With influences that range from classics such as Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Velvet Underground, Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, and Patsy Cline- you can expect a progressive sound that is at the same time tinged with a peculiar sense of familiarity.
Valerie and her band currently reside in Bangkok and are well established on the local music scene, having performed at a variety of venues with both local and international talent.

RYAN HOLWEGER & THE HIGH PLAINS
While the memory of American Roots music fades, Ryan Holweger clearly recalls the songs celebrated by the men and women who built his rural North Dakota hometown. Ryan left that town for the city, then left that continent to build his own family, always writing songs and playing the sounds that remind us that it's about more than a red plastic cup half full of flat beer. If you're in need of a refresher, you can find Ryan playing his songs around his new home in Southeast Asia.
