One Friendship is a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign designed to help fund future Chemo Pal mentor matches at the Children’s Cancer Association. The award-winning Chemo Pal program helps to give kids a caring, trusted adult friend to look forward to during treatments, and someone in their corner when they need it most. Chemo Pals also give parents a much-needed break to grab a cup of coffee, take a nap, talk with doctors, or spend time with their other children.

Why is the Chemo Pal Mentor Program so important? It gives kids the opportunity to be kids. The average Chemo Pal match lasts around 25 months, or for the duration of their treatment. Together Chemo Pals and mentees play games, listen to music, share hobbies, or simply offer the comfort of companionship, reliving the anxiety, loneliness and isolation experienced by children in treatment. In 2017, CCA delivered the joy of friendship to 227 Pacific Northwest children and teens. Chemo Pal matches spent 6,821 hours together, providing friendship that often transcends far beyond the hospital setting.
