The Youth YMCA Swim Lessons Program is divided into two divisions and six levels. The first division is Swim Basics: swimmers develop a high level of comfort in the water by practicing safe water habits, engaging in underwater exploration, and learning how to swim to safety and exit. Levels included are: Level 1 Water Acclimation, Level 2 Water Movement, and Level 3 Water Stamina. The next division is Swim Strokes. After mastering the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique, developing skills that prevent chronic disease and foster a lifetime of physical activity. Levels included are: Level 4 Stroke Introduction, Level 5 Stroke Development and Level 6 Stroke Mechanics.
