If you’d like to learn more about observing and drawing the details of natural objects, this workshop is for you! You’ll enjoy two hours gaining a new appreciation of scientific illustration, a field in which accurate renderings are used to represent and explain natural objects and/or processes. A brief slide show will highlight the history and present day use of scientific illustration, then you’ll receive instruction as you practice hands-on experience of drawing a natural object. Previous drawing experience is recommended. Adults and mature teens.

Marla Coppolino, BS, MS, is a biologist, naturalist, photographer, fine artist, and a professional science illustrator for the past 25 years. She combines her background and skills to observe specimens of nature in detail, and produces accurate renderings for scientific publications, including journals, books, and educational materials. She lives on a mini farm in Groton, New York with goats, ducks, and snails.
