Celebrate space and stars with the whole family with our new film series Big Screen Science! Revisit classic sci-fi films, followed by a fascinating presentation and discussion on how space is depicted in cinema with astrophysicist Dr Rachael Livermore from The University of Melbourne.

The alumni cast of a space opera television series have to play their roles as the real thing when an alien race needs their help in GALAXY QUEST. Scraping a living through reruns and sci-fi conventions, the has-been actors are approached by aliens to defeat a reptilian warlord as, due to intercepting television signals, the aliens steadfastly believe the actors are really intergalactic heroes. Starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub and Sam Rockwell, GALAXY QUEST is a hilarious farce that lovingly pokes fun at sci-fi fan devotion.

Upcoming Big Screen Science screenings include APOLLO 13 and STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, tickets are now on sale at the Nova website and box office.
