FireWise, Cortez Fire, the City of Cortez, and the Montezuma County Weed Department invite you to join us on April 5, 2018, at the Cortez City Hall, 123 Roger Smith Avenue, from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm for a community FireWise preparedness meeting. At this meeting, you will be able to express your concerns and better understand what your risks are living in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). We will also provide steps you can take to reduce those risks and together work on a plan for reducing hazardous vegetation and chances of ignition in the hazardous areas near your neighborhood. FireWise understands that you want to protect your family and home, and we want to connect you with the tools and resources to help get you started.
If you are unable to attend this community meeting, please contact us directly, visit our website at southwestcoloradofires.org, or attend the Living with Wildfire Spring Fair and Fundraiser at the Mancos Brewery on Saturday, April 28th (bring this letter and original envelope for free admission). The meeting at City Hall will be recorded live so you will be able to watch the meeting on demand by going to the City website at www.cityofcortez.com.
