COMMUNITY MEETING ON A POTENTIAL CANNABIS TAX
In response to California voter approval of Proposition 64 in November 2016, which legalized adult-use cannabis in the State effective January 1, 2018, the City of Mountain View is studying updates to local regulations to allow and regulate retail sales.
In addition to preparing the regulations for retail cannabis uses, the City is also evaluating a potential tax on such sales.
Currently, both medicinal and adult-use commercial cannabis activities are illegal in Mountain View. It is anticipated that no commercial cannabis uses would be authorized until such time as a cannabis tax ballot measure has been approved by City voters. A City cannabis tax initiative could be considered by voters at the next General Election in November 2018.
Please join us to discuss your thoughts regarding taxing retail sales of cannabis in Mountain View.
COMMUNITY MEETING: THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 2018
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Mountain View City Hall
Plaza Conference Room
500 Castro Street, Mountain View
