The founders of Clay Station recently paid a visit to the traditional city of Vietnam called Hanoi. They were in awe while witnessing the Vietnamese culture - their genuineness, their simplicity, their principals and most of all their heritage. They visited a prominent and popular “ceramic village” in Bat Trang Hanoi which depicted just those attributes and they felt eager to learn and know more. As they journeyed into their village, spoke in sign languages and gestures with the locals, admired the beauties which were entwined with history, heritage and culture , it occured to them that they wanted to share this experience with our local community back home and bring a little bit of Vietnam in the studio in Dhaka for you all to explore it.
Through the context of Vietnamese philosophy we will have the home grown artists of Clay Station make few limited pieces that will give the audience a peek of Bat Trang Hanoi and maybe remind us to be a little humble and to cherish our roots and heritage a little bit more dearly.
As we embark on this journey we will keep you posted on snippets of our developments, failures and hopefully some successes which will eventually open doors to the exhibit we are planning to name “A little bit of Vietnam” a month from today. We are nervous but hopeful - let the claying begin!!
