Pontus Petterson invites you to join Poetic Procedures #8 (a watery we) at clearview. Developed as a collaborative embodied research practice at ccap in Stockholm since 2016, Poetic Procedures is a choreographic format, something in between a performance, a dance class and something else.
For one evening, clearview will become a performative space of aqueous embodiment. Together with some friends, Pontus will initiate a series of choreographic tools and scores to be shared, witnessed and tried out together.
Water will be the element, substance and subject of the evening. Water constitutes more than half our bodies. What would happen if we allow that water to have agency over our own and other bodies; to become a body of water: a watery we? If I perceive the water in you, perceive you as water, how might my relationship to you change? How will engaging with you on a liquid level change the way my body, and the collective body, moves? Water molecules have strong cohesive forces; a tendency to stick together. This is us sticking together.
This event forms part of a long term research project in collaboration with curator Hannah Zafiropoulos. The practice will inform the ongoing development of a choreographic score to be performed at Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm, in May 2018.
Pontus Pettersson is a Swedish choreographer, dancer and artist. In his work he plays and question the notions of choreography and dance as two singular yet closely entangled entities, practiced and expanded with their own inquiries, politics and aesthetics. It is a love for dancing with a particular interest in objects that bridge to a choreography that is as much daring, useless, beautiful and something else. His practice ranges from staged work, installation and performance to fortune telling, cat practicing, writing poetry and dancing.
As a dancer Pontus has worked for choreographers including Deborah Hay, Mårten Spångberg, Stina Nyberg, Ohad Naharin and Cristina Caprioli. Pontus is currently involved with his choreo-curating project The Poeticians, dancing for Mette Ingvartsen in her performance Seven Pleasures as well as working with the musical, text and performance project PETS together with his friend and choreographer Ofelia Jarl Ortega. Pontus is a recurring artist at the venue Weld in Stockholm and holds an MA in Choreography from the University of Dance and Circus (DOCH) in Stockholm.
