Rise of the Human Digital Brain Lecture with Beatriz Pacheco will be Thursday, April 5, 3-4 PM at Clovis Community College in Room 101.
According to popular theoretical physicist and futurist Michio Kaku, “The introduction of MRI machines and a variety of advanced brain scans in the mid-1990’s and 2000’s has transformed neuroscience. We have learned more about the brain in the last fteen years than in all prior human history, and the mind, once considered out of reach, is nally assuming center stage.”
This newly acquired information about the brain, its plasticity, and how we function as learners give rise to the following question: what are we doing with this information to help advance educational outcomes?
Dr. Beatriz Pacheco has written a book entitled “The Rise of the Human Digital Brain: How Multidirectional Thinking is Changing the Way We Learn” in order to address this question. The impact of technology on how we learn and also on how we measure outcomes will be an important component of this lecture.
Dr. Pacheco will present information regarding current trends in education and will provide suggestions for bridging the gap between high school and college for 21st century learners.
