Bunkai (分解), literally meaning "analysis" or "disassembly", is a term used in Japanese martial arts referring to process of analysing kata and extracting fighting techniques from the movements of a "form" (kata). The extracted fighting techniques are called Oyo.
In this workshop we will go over various applications of Kihon Waza / Basic Techniques as well as Kata.
Most of the Bunkai out there is "BUNK".
Karate has failed to represent as well as other arts in full contact combat sports and self defense ?
It's not that Karate is a bad combat system, but Karate has a well documented history of being watered down, bastardized and sold out.
I wonder how many Karate practitioners feel they wasted years of hard work, time and money on Karate because it doesn't work.
I did at one point in my training.
So if you want to expand your Karate without changing your style or you'd like to feel you did not waste years doing something that doesn't work, please give this a try.
